About the role
COTegg Vietnam is an engineering team that mainly develops web systems for clients in Japan. We’re looking for a senior engineer who can take ownership of backend, front-end and mobile development with PHP or Ruby on Rails, using AI tools to improve speed and quality. In our small team, you’ll have real ownership across architecture, implementation and process improvement.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs with PHP or Ruby on Rails
- Develop and maintain front-end features for web applications
- Develop and maintain mobile applications
- Design and implement scalable web application features
- Own architecture, implementation and technical improvements
- Review code and help raise code quality
- Take part in product and technical decisions
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing workflows and development processes
- Use AI tools to work more efficiently
- Research and introduce new technologies and tools
- Support junior engineers and share practical knowledge
What we’re looking for
- 6+ years of software development experience
- Strong hands-on backend and web development with PHP or Ruby on Rails
- Hands-on front-end development experience
- Hands-on mobile app development experience
- Experience designing and building REST APIs
- Database design and SQL skills
- Experience developing and operating production applications
- Experience with Git-based team development
- Able to drive design, implementation and improvements independently
Nice to have
- Mobile app architecture, release operations, performance tuning or maintenance
- Experience with AWS, Docker or CI/CD pipelines
- Using AI tools in development (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.)
- Architecture design and technical decision-making
- Experience working in small engineering teams
